Overview

When attempting to Sync SID History, you may encounter the following error:

Error updating SID history: The parameter is incorrect

Root Cause

The issue is caused by an incorrect username format configured in the directory.

SID History operations require the user account to be referenced in a fully qualified and supported format. If the username is provided in a partial or unsupported format, the process fails and returns the generic "The parameter is incorrect" error.

Correct Username Formats

To resolve this issue, ensure that the username Directory configuration is set to one of the following valid formats:

Full UPN format

user@domain.com

Pre-Windows 2000 logon format

DOMAIN\user

⚠️ Formats such as user alone are not supported for SID History sync.
