Learn how to register the Migration Agent on a device which has the agent installed on it previously

 Introduction

This error occurs when the Migration Agent has already been installed and registered on the workstation, but residual registry keys from a previous installation were not removed.

Cause

  • This means that the Agent has been installed on the Workstation already and registered to the PSP Database.
  • Most likely scenario is that the Agent has been uninstalled from the Workstation, and the Declaration Software Registry keys have not been deleted.

Resolution

Warning: Editing the Windows Registry can cause system instability if done incorrectly. Ensure you have a registry backup before proceeding.

  1. Uninstall the Migration Agent from the workstation.

  2. Open the Registry Editor and navigate to the following path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Declaration Software\Migration Agent

    3. Registry

    • Delete the Migration agent folder with the registry keys

    • If you see “Already Registered” in the event logs, delete the agent from the PSP console and then attempt to re-register.

    DeleteAgent

    • Reinstall the Migration Agent on the workstation, navigate to the Migration Agent tray app, right-click it, and select Register Migration Agent.
