Importing Devices into Migration Batches via CSV
A guide to efficiently managing bulk workstation assignments for migration using CSV exports and imports.

The Scenario
When configuring a PowerSyncPro Migration Agent batch, you must define the scope of computers that will execute the assigned runbooks. While you can manually add workstations one at a time using the interface's drop-down picklist, managing dozens, hundreds, or thousands of devices is most efficiently handled in bulk using a CSV import.
The batch configuration interface allows you to easily export your current computer list, modify it, and upload it back into the system to rapidly assign migration targets.
Prerequisites: Directory Imports
Before any device can be imported into a batch via CSV, the PowerSyncPro backend database must already be aware of the machine's existence.
For a workstation to be available to be added to a Batch, the Source Directory configuration must have the Computer object type selected under its Import settings, and a directory import job must have successfully run. If you attempt to import a computer name into a batch that PowerSyncPro has not yet inventoried from the source directory, the assignment will fail.
The Recommended Method: Export, Edit, Re-Import
To ensure your formatting is always perfectly aligned with your current PowerSyncPro server version, the easiest and most reliable method for bulk importing is to start with a fresh export.
- Navigate to your target Batch in the PowerSyncPro console.
- Click the Export button to download the current device list.
- Open the downloaded CSV file in your preferred spreadsheet editor (such as Microsoft Excel).
- Add your new target devices to the list, save the file, and then click Import List in the PowerSyncPro console to upload your updated roster.

💡 Good to Know: You Only Need the Computer Name
Looking at the export, you might assume you need to manually query Active Directory or Entra ID to find the specific ObjectGuid or ObjectSid for every new computer you want to add to your spreadsheet. You do not.
The only column that needs to be updated is the "Name" column. When you paste your list of target computer names into the Name column and re-import the CSV, the PowerSyncPro interface will automatically look up the associated ObjectGuid and additional required information from its database and populate the batch for you.

CSV Formatting & The "Name" Column
When you export a batch from the console, the resulting CSV will contain several columns of rich data harvested from the PowerSyncPro database.
